With All This Crazy Weather, Jesus Must Be Coming Soon, Right?

by | Mar 13, 2023 | Faith & Theology

I recently had a conversation with a stranger about the weird weather in Arkansas. We’d had hail, tornadoes, and ice within a couple of weeks’ span.

His comment to me was, “Yep, the Bible’s signs of the times are happening all around us!”

God may have left us some clues about his plans for the future, but I don’t think Arkansas weather in 2023 is one of them.

The Book of Revelation in the Bible… bear with me… is NOT about the second coming of Christ, the rapture, the end of the world, how to spot the antichrist, or how awful the end times will be.

It was written in the first centuryโ€ฆ
to people living in the first centuryโ€ฆ
about how to worship the Lamb of Godโ€ฆ
while under the rule of a corrupt empire.

And… it’s also about trusting that, no matter what, the Lamb who was slain will reign over a world brought to peaceย in God’s timing and in God’s way.

The application for us, today, isnโ€™t โ€œGet right with God or heโ€™ll throw a mountain on you while the rest of us are whisked away silently in the night.โ€

Rather, the application is, โ€œGod knows and sees how youโ€™re suffering and his plan to finally fix it all revolves around his Son, the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ.โ€
