Final Thoughts About the BMA Meeting

Posted by Brandon on April 23, 2008

I’ve just gotten back to my room after the final session of the 59th annual meeting of the BMA of America. I expressed my concerns in my last post, and I do think there are plenty of weaknesses to be addressed. But I really want to focus on the positives. I really am excited to be a part of this association of Baptists. Why? Let me share some of what God is doing around the world through the BMA…

DiscipleGuide is coming along. I’m rather impressed with the strengths of this particular department. I love the fact that the department is doing a good job in the realm of branding and marketing, which is more important than you might think to a ministry such as this. There’s a heavy commitment to excellence and it’s exciting.

We’re thinking globally and acting locally. God is doing some awesome things in places like Cambodia, all over South America, and west Africa. We’re sending newly elected missionaries to Mexico and Canada and have recently sent other church planters onto various fields. I do feel this is an exciting time to be part of the global ministry of the BMAA and I have a desire to be a prayer warrior and fund raiser for the cause.

There’s an awakening among some of our churches. Many of our churches are dying. In fact, most are. Perhaps we’ve tuned out the fresh wind of the Holy Spirit in exchange for the routine and the status quo. But some are realizing the power of embracing a new movement of God in our midst. I don’t know what the BMA will look like in ten or twenty years, but I know that I’m excited to see what God can do in an association that’s alive and well… for now.

May we all awaken to His global vision!
